I was proud to find myself blogrolled under the heading "eclectic" on a blog called Semper ubi sub ubi. (Ask a Latin-speaking friend for a translation of that profound motto.)
Although I'm not a cigar smoker, I like this quote from the top of the page:
I have enough trouble keeping the Ten Commandments, I don't need to add an eleventh one ... and I fully intend to go home tonight and smoke a cigar to the glory of God.--Charles H. Spurgeon

One fellow associated with John MacArthur's church maintained a whole page on his website devoted to Spurgeon's cigar smoking. It's worthwhile reading if you can find it (I've lost track of it). Spurgeon's comments on the subject remind me of Schaeffer's dictum that we must be careful to say all that the Bible says, but that we must also be careful not to say what it does not say.
I smoked a pipe for years. I only gave it up when I became aware that I had become idolatrous in that regard.

I always liked (Robert A.)Heinlein's take...
The 11th Commandment: Thou shalt not get caught.
"Remember the 11th Commandment, and keep it wholly!"
