I think the result would have been different if they'd asked how to pronounce Hahvahd, Cuber, Dwochestah, Wistah, and Cahtawk.

My intro to Bostonian speech was this little article in HoToGAMIT (How to Get Around MIT) -- there have been a few additions in the succeeding quarter-century since I matriculated.

Accents can be so funny. My own thick-as-the-hair-on-a-dawg's-back Oklahoma accent is quite unnoticeable to me--just as the accent possessed by everyone in the New York-based Marine Reserve Tank Company I trained with one summer was unnoticeable to them.

My results said that I was from the northeast. I have lived in Tulsa for almost 30 years. I find this amazing:) Fun quiz.

It pegged me correctly:
"'You have a Midland accent' is just another way of saying 'you don't have an accent.' You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio."
FYI, I grew up in rural central Illinois.
The last sentence is a laugher, though. My voice is about as good for broadcasting as my face is for movies.
