PLANiTULSA scenario survey results to be unveiled
There will be be a press conference at the BOK Center today at 2 p.m. to unveil the results of the PLANiTULSA "Which Way Tulsa?" survey, in which thousands of Tulsans expressed their preference among four scenarios for Tulsa's future growth. The survey results will be used to develop a vision as part of the City of Tulsa's first comprehensive plan in a generation. More about this after the results are announced.

Let me guess: More DOWNTOWN Development?
The reports I have seen say the "thousands" mentioned in the article is something like 1 percent of the Tulsa population.
The science of the survey was something like:
Choose your preference.
1) Drop a 300 pound anvil on your foot.
2) Rip off one of your ears.
3) Get eaten by a bear.
Whichever preference prevails gets reported as the people's choice. So that's what we should do.
The choices in the survey had no options related to general issues like crime and public schools. The choices made the assumption that there are no real problems, Tulsa is a booming, growing city, and all we need to do is decide how we want to direct this booming growth (dream on) -- just like my little survey makes the assumption that people want to inflict some kind of damage on themselves, and that is after gobs of press about how great it is to be eaten by a bear.
By the way, you can get a 300 pound anvil from Grizzly. I'm not sure where you can procure a bear (definitely not from Grizzly).
I did not attend any of the meetings, nor am I acutely aware of the individual plans. I did look at the slideshow that showed the results. The individual plans didn't appear to disregard the issues Tulsa faces. It looks like the planners understand that the WAY any community is shaped and changes shape can directly affect how and why any social breakdown occurs. Many studies have been done that conclude things like crime can actually be affecting by density and form of the "built environment". Education can be directly related to our promotion of extending our community outward quickly and therefore creating an educational vacuum that is rarely filled.
It looks like at least one or two of these plans take this theory into consideration.
